Lyric Lounge and Waifs and Strays: Writers response to Chavs.

Some of the UK’s most talented young playwrights present an evening of plays in response to Owen Jones’ book Chavs: The Demonization Of The Working Class, a damning portrait of the media and political establishment, and an illuminating, disturbing look at the inequality and class struggle within modern Britain.

Paired with a host of emerging directorial talents these six short plays will debate the connotations of this stereotype, the current state of our nation and perhaps more significantly how we got here.

With last summer’s riots and the new welfare reforms proposed, there has never been a more pertinent time to discuss these issues and what better way to get people talking than a night of thrilling new theatre.
