The Lyric builds the UK’s first teaching theatre for the Performing Arts.

This autumn, the Lyric will begin work on a £13.5 million capital development project to extend its current building, creating new teaching facilities for the performing arts for local young people.

This new learning space will pioneer the delivery of a range of nationally accredited qualifications including the new Creative and Media Diploma and the Creative Apprenticeship, as well as offering lots of arts activities for young people to take part in during their leisure time.

The new facilities will be housed in a site directly adjacent and linked to the Lyric’s existing building, and are scheduled to open in September 2011.

Over 300 people attended our recent Open Day to tell us what they thought about our plans. We’ve listened to your comments and have been revising our plans for the project. Come along and find out more at one of our Open Meetings.
