Lyric Creative Learning

More on

Creative Learning is about potential, in all its forms. It's about talent and opportunity. It's vocational and industry focused. We will pass on knowledge, skills and experience to our participants and they will do the same with us.

The Lyric’s Creative Learning department is committed to providing exciting opportunities for a wide range of young people to participate in creative activities.

The department was recently renamed Creative Learning from Education and Training, to reflect a changing and expanding strategy under the leadership of Artistic Director David Farr and Executive Director Jessica Hepburn.

The department’s work falls into two strands, Lyric Interactive and Lyric West:

A summary of the Creative Learning strategy can be downloaded below. Key objectives of the strategy include:

  • To expand the reach of our work from the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham to West London more broadly; including Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Ealing, Brent, Hounslow, Hillingdon, Harrow, Wandsworth and Richmond;
  • To pioneer new ways of working with young people to assist them in developing a range of skills and reaching their potential;
  • To have a long-term impact on the young people we work with by providing participants with a ‘ladder of opportunity’ – a sustained, measurable and quantifiable journey encompassing a variety of projects over time;
  • To capitalise on and continue the Lyric’s legacy of providing groundbreaking work for young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), are at risk of becoming NEET, or have complex needs;
  • To ensure that participants for projects reflect the diversity of young people in West London and to provide ways for young people of different socio-economic backgrounds to come together and learn from each other;
  • To provide the theatre-makers of tomorrow with a sustained developmental journey including the opportunity to further their skills with some of the leading practitioners working in the UK and be involved with large-scale theatre productions of their own;
  • To be an industry leader in the delivery of both arts and non-arts nationally recognised qualifications.
