Our work with Young People
The Lyric is unique within the theatre ecology of the UK with our dual commitment to producing the highest quality contemporary theatre, alongside nurturing the creativity of young people.
Our work is split up into four strands:
Lyric Young Company – West London’s largest youth theatre which provides a wide of range of activities at evenings, weekends and school holidays for young people to meet new people, learn new skills and showcase their talents.
Creative Learning – our programme of work with the formal education sector including primary, secondary, further and higher education in the state, independent and free school sector which helps them to deliver the national curriculum and deliver a top quality cultural education.
Targeted Work – our widely acclaimed programme of activities aimed at some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable young people in West London including young people who are NEET (not in education, training and employment); young people who have offended or are at risk of offending; young people in care; and young people with disabilities aimed at using the arts to help them achieve their potential.
Next Generation – an employment programme for young adults who are just starting out in the profession with a particular emphasis on young people who are under-represented in the creative and cultural industries including those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, ethnic minorities or people with disabilities.
Each year the Lyric offers a Summer Work Experience Project; applications for this years placement is now closed.
